Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The domain
contains a domain controller named DC1 that runs Windows Server 2012 R2. DC1 has the
DNS Server server role installed.
The network contains client computers that run either Linux, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
You have a standard primary zone named adatum.com as shown in the exhibit. (Click the
Exhibit button.)

You plan to configure Name Protection on all of the DHCP servers.
You need to configure the adatum.com zone to support Name Protection.
Which two configurations should you perform from DNS Manager? (Each correct answer
presents part of the solution. Choose two.)

  • A Sign the zone.
  • B Store the zone in Active Directory.
  • C Modify the Security settings of the zone.
  • D Configure Dynamic updates.
  • E Add a DNS key record

Hi, B and D is correct: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/jeffbutte/2016/12/18/265/

dhakor, that's not entirely true. You can configure LDAP to play nicely with Active Directory including configuring it work with secured dynamic updates. You can even make active directory believe that a linux machine is actually a windows machine of any flavor. It's all about the libraries and configurations.

This is a Tricky question, because Dynamic Updates works with Windows-Based systems only. What to do with the Linux based ones? "Name squatting occurs when a non-Windows-based computer registers in Domain Name System (DNS) with a name that is already registered to a Windows-based computer. The use of name protection in Windows Server prevents name squatting by non-Windows-based computers. Name squatting does not present a problem on a homogeneous Windows network where Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) can be used to reserve a name for a single user or computer." REF: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759188(v=ws.11).aspx Then if you configure Name protection, the Linux clients can't register in the DNS. The zone is actually AD Integrated, then if you configure Dynamic Updates to "SECURE ONLY" (Option D), then you've to add manually the Linux clients to the DNS (Option E) Check this discussion: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/262635-linux-does-not-register-on-the-windows-ad-dns For me correct answer is D and E (for each non-AD integrated computers either Windows-based and non-Windows based)

B. Store the zone in Active Directory. D. Configure Dynamic updates.

I'd go with the text where it is said :"You have a standard primary zone named adatum.com" If we assume that screenshoot is not the correct one, than B & D.

I am not sure about B, because in the screenshot, the zone is already stored in AD. Although storing in AD is a pre-requisite for name protection
