MITM basically reroutes all traffic meant for a router through itself first. Allows the perpetrator to see and manipulate clear traffic. Botnets are like automated viruses or malware that may lift information from infected computer, and will try to replicate itself. IE through sending of emails with malicious attachments as you without your knowledge or input.
